ABOUT BDQ PLUMBING
At BDQ Plumbing, the “Q” stands for Quality—our core value and the foundation of everything we do. Since opening our doors in 2017, we’ve earned a reputation for delivering quality plumbing, drainage, and gas fitting solutions, backed by professionalism, efficiency, and friendly service.
As a locally owned and family-operated business, we take pride in our dedicated team of qualified, experienced tradesmen who share our commitment to delivering work of the highest standard. Our continued growth is a direct result of our drive to provide reliable, timely, and respectful service across every project.
BDQ Plumbing was founded by Ben and Sarah Dixon, and remains proudly owned and operated by them today. With a hands-on leadership style, they combine Ben’s 16 years of practical industry experience as a Certified Plumber, Drainlayer, and Gasfitter with Sarah’s expertise in business management, human resources, and health & safety.
Together, they ensure the business runs seamlessly—balancing technical excellence with structured leadership and a strong focus on people and performance. Their shared commitment to quality, reliability, and service excellence continues to shape everything BDQ stands for.

MEET THE TEAM
Ben Dixon

I started the business with Sarah on 8 December 2016, and since then we've had two amazing kids, Grace and Oliver, and moved house twice. My family is originally from New Zealand but moved to Australia shortly before I was born, so I grew up in Melbourne before relocating to Christchurch in January 2011. I'm passionate about rugby, free diving, and anything outdoors—but plumbing has always been more than just a job to me; it’s a lifestyle. I’m proud of the quality service we provide and the great team we’ve built—we’re a solid group who genuinely enjoy what we do.

I'm currently a third-year plumbing apprentice at BDQ, where I really enjoy the work and the team culture. Everyone looks out for each other, and we take pride in the quality of our work and the respect we show to customers and their property. Outside of work, I’ve recently been selected to represent New Zealand in korfball over in Australia, which I’m really proud of. Every day on the job brings something different, which keeps things interesting and helps me build a wide range of skills.

Originally from Barry in South Wales, I moved to NZ with my wife and four kids 14 years ago. I have been in the plumbing industry since leaving school at 16. I have had my own plumbing merchant business, but am enjoying less stress working as business manager for BDQ.

I moved to NZ with my husband and four kids 14 years ago. I decided to take a break from my profession of maths teacher after living and working in Perth WA for a year. I am now enjoying my new role of Office Manager wit BDQ Plumbing and love the values demonstrated by a real family owned and run business.
Ollie

I’m a newly qualified plumber with a love for anything outdoors and a big passion for rugby league. What I enjoy most about the job is the variety of work and the strong team culture—we all get along, which makes for a great work environment. There’s a solid mix of knowledge and experience across the company, and the office keeps us well-informed so we know what we’re walking into before we get to site.

Born and raised in Christchurch, I'm the youngest of three boys in my family. I’ve been plumbing since I left high school at 17 and have now been qualified for 1.5 years—making me the first plumber in my immediate family. Outside of work, I enjoy playing golf and have a background in basketball and rugby. I work with a great, social crew where we all get along like mates, which makes the job enjoyable. Every day brings something different, keeping things fresh and helping me build skills across all areas of plumbing and drainlaying.
Jason

I’m a qualified plumber with 7 years of experience and a strong passion for sports. I take pride in the quality of my work and always aim to deliver reliable, professional service.

I'm a 25-year-old apprentice living in Christchurch with my fiancée. In my spare time, I enjoy 4-wheel driving, gold prospecting, and playing darts and foosball with mates on the weekends. I've been with BDQ for just over a year and love being part of a fast, reliable, and supportive team. The crew’s experience and willingness to help make it a great environment to learn and grow in my apprenticeship.

I am BDQ's mascot. I love nothing more than lounging around all day in my comfy work bed, occasionally barking at the postman. My favourite hobby is to look cute so that I get lots of attention!!
